Few issues are as
important to our clients as protection from domestic abuse. It is an
issue that crosses class and race. It affects not only the direct
victim, but also any children, who may be traumatised by what they
witness, and whose later adult relationships may be affected.
Family violence is never
justified, and it is not necessary for anyone to tolerate being the
victim of abuse.
Led by Penny Andrew, whose
active involvement in organisations addressing the problems arising from
domestic abuse have put her at the forefront of the profession locally,
The Worcester Family Law Practice has developed ways of offering a
speedy and effective response for clients needing protection from a
violent spouse or other family member.

Urgent non-molestation
injunctions and orders regarding the occupation of family homes can be
obtained in most cases without delay. Many abused spouses find it
difficult to break free from the abuser. An abuser will often work to
make his victim believe that she is dependent upon him and cannot
survive without him. Effective support through counselling or
psychotherapy may be needed, and The Worcester Family Law Practice will
be able to recommend an appropriate professional service.
